The latest study says that drinking 1 to 6 cups of tea every single day reduces a person’s risk of contracting Alzheimer’s disease by 16-19%. As per data released by Translational Psychiatry, moderate tea drinkers also had 25-29% lower risk of getting vascular dementia. The optimum quantity of intake of tea cups is taken as “3”.

Though the studies mentioned above do prove that tea has neurological benefits, coffee is also not behind. Studies have stated that coffee also helps in stimulating the brains.

Tea – A Multitude of Advantages

Moreover, tea could be served hot or iced. Also, European Journal of Preventive Cardiology has published a recent study stating that over 100K adults based in China who drank tea on regular basis were at a lower risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Research also states that green tea is more effective as compared to black tea.

This also implies that someone in his/her fifties who might be a frequent drinker of tea is at aa greater likelihood of developing heart disease 18 months longer than the one who has never drink tea or rarely drinks tea.

As per Vanessa Bianconi, one of the researchers at the University of Perugia (Italy) along with being a leading author of an editorial supporting the new research, habitual consumption of tea could be looked upon as “an overall health-promoting lifestyle behaviour”. The editorial also mentioned that tea has the ability of lowering blood pressure, which further reduces the risk of stroke in patients.

It is a known fact that green tea is rich in flavonoids (bioactive compounds), which do reduce oxidative stress and relieve from inflammation. Though these research findings pertain to China, researchers have instructed to conduct a deeper research regarding the other countries in the Asia-Pacific in this regard.

The other advantages include protection to teeth and heart, along with helping in keeping cancer away.

Green teas undergo least processing and have an appreciable quantity of polyphenols, which also help in the digestive system taking aa smooth ride. Though research on whether tea helps in weight loss is in its nascent stage, certain communities do believe that tea does help in losing weight.


Data animal studies conducted recently states that bone loss could also be prevented by green tea. South Asia is home to Moringa plant, which is making inroads as one of the mainstream superfood. Moringa tea contains more calcium, vitamin K, vitamin A, and iron as compared to its counterparts, which render strength to the bones.

It could be inferred that consumption of tea should be preferred on the health grounds!
