Psoriatic arthritis could be brought under control through treating patients with dietary counselling.

The Intervention

The first diet cohort comprised 3 main meals, 2-3 snacks, increased water intake, eating more vegetables and fruits, and averting processed foods. The patients were also asked if they consumed drugs, or experienced any changes in sleep patterns or gut functioning. This diet cohort was termed as diet-placebo.

The second diet cohort was that of intake of diet-fish (with the rest of the factors to be the same).

The third diet cohort was pertaining to placebo.

12-week intervention (as stated above) gave the inference that DII decreased in these patients. The other conclusion was that supervised exercises could healthily contribute towards weight loss and contribute to better control of disease activity.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBD)?

Research also states that the ones contracting psoriasis are at a greater risk of IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) as compared to general population. This piece of information was published in Frontiers in Medicine.
